Sara Thompson | Cello/Gamba

Sara Thompson, double bass and violone, performs regularly in the Twin Cities with Lyra Baroque Orchestra, Consortium Carissimi, and the Bach Roots Festival. She is a founding member of GROUND BASS, a five-member ensemble that performs Baroque repertoire solely on bass instruments. She also plays the modern bass, and has a strong interest in 20th and 21st century music. She has taught Suzuki and traditional bass, both privately and for 15 years at the MacPhail Center for Music. Sara attended Colorado State University, The Juilliard School (B.M.; M.M.), and Stony Brook University (DMA program).
