Season Overview

Welcome to our 20th season!

Dear Friends,

2023-24 marks Madison Bach Musicians’ 20th season—let’s celebrate! Right off, we are thrilled to announce that we’ve expanded this year from three to four program events. Leading the procession, on October 7-8, superstar violinist Marc Destrubé and the MBM strings will explore the dazzling musical world of Vivaldi’s Venice, music of the Red Priest himself and of Baroque musical luminaries who either lived in or visited the mysterious city on the sea. Then, on December 15-16, for MBM’s 13th annual Baroque Holiday Concert, we’ll devote the entire program to music of J. S. Bach: the Christmas Oratorio (Part 5 complete and selected arias from Parts 2, 3, and 6) plus

Bach’s incomparable investigation into the dynamics of time and mortality, the cantata BWV 8, Liebster Gott, wenn werd ich sterben. As an antidote to any lingering late-winter blues, on March 1-2, we’ll present Bach’s Musical Offering complete— ricercars, trio sonatas, puzzle canons, et al.—contrapuntal, metaphysical magic on a single theme. And this gala season will conclude with internationally celebrated choral conductor Andrew Megill leading 24 performers from throughout the world in two all-stops-out performances of the matchless Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610. The grandeur and emotional sway of this masterwork simply has to be experienced in person to be believed.

What an outstanding lineup of concerts to celebrate our 20th year. Please come and revel with Madison Bach Musicians! We continue to offer our events in livestream format so that our patrons everywhere can enjoy the concerts. Madison Bach Musicians cannot wait to see you—and to perform for you—at these concerts!
